The U.S. Embassy in Rabat is seeking an individual for the position of Administrative Assistant in the Public Affairs Section (PAS).
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:
The incumbent handles a wide range of office management activities for the Public Affairs Section in Rabat, including coordination with the Public Affairs Section in Casablanca. The incumbent drafts routine correspondence, prepares written materials using appropriate formats, spreadsheets, layouts, and graphics for the audience, sorts and prioritizes mail and telegraphic traffic, alerts American and senior LE Staff to priority action items, creates and maintains central PAS files, including grant files, and assists other PAS sections with setting up, maintaining, and archiving both paper and electronic files.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREDNOTE:
All applicants must meet all qualifications and provide supporting documentation for each criterion below.
Education: Completion of secondary school is required.
Experience: At least five years of office management experience is required.
Language: Level 3 (Good Working Knowledge) speaking/reading English. Level 4 (Fluent) speaking/reading French and Arabic is required.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Suite is required.
- Knowledge of arithmetic and numerical record keeping sufficient to analyze cuff records and other basic budget documents is required.
- Knowledge of common filing systems sufficient to analyze, design, and implement common office procedures is required.
Skills and Abilities: Strong organizational skills are required.
SELECTION PROCESS
When equally qualified, US Citizen EFMs and US Veterans will be given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate address the required qualifications above in the application.
ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA
- Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
- Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
- Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
- Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
- Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
