Communications Assistant
The Embassy invites applications for the position of Communications Assistant. The Communications Assistant will work with the growing communications team to raise the UK’s profile in Morocco, and improve awareness of the Embassy’s activities locally. This is a key position, which will focus on developing the use of new media through the Embassy website, and on building contacts with local journalists and other key interlocutors.
Candidates must have:
• high standard of spoken and written English (IELTS score of at least 6 or equivalent),
• high standard of spoken and written Arabic
• working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• ability to work as part as a team and independently
The following are desirable but not essential:
• written and spoken French
• academic or professional knowledge of the media
• experience of managing websites
Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Communications Assistant’s responsibilities will include:
• Manage and update the Embassy website
• Attend political meetings and build contacts with the media, politicians and civil society
• Organise visits, calls and interviews
• Monitor the press and contribute to the daily press review
• Provide ad hoc non-official Arabic translation
• Other assistance to the Political Team.
